Kingdom Come: Delivering
- by Robert Ramsey
Releasing on PS5 in just a couple of weeks, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has revealed its roadmap for the rest of 2025 — and it sounds like Henry's going to be very busy indeed.
To start with, a "selection" of free updates will be dropping throughout the spring, adding various gameplay extras like the ability to customise Henry's appearance, and a 'Hardcore Mode' that promises an even sturdier challenge than the already complex base game. 'Horse Racing' is mentioned in the press release as well.
Then, players can look forward to three separate (and paid) expansions, coming in the summer, autumn / fall, and winter. Here are the official descriptions:
- Summer: Brushes with Death – Embark on a thrilling quest as Henry aids an enigmatic artist with a shadowy past. Journey across the lands of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, facing perilous encounters and unravelling a web of dangerous schemes.
- Autumn: Legacy of the Forge – Dive into Henry’s roots by exploring the legacy of Martin, his adoptive father. Work to restore a once-renowned forge and prove your skills in the art of blacksmithing as you uncover forgotten tales of the past.
- Winter: Mysteria Ecclesia – Enter the Sedlec Monastery, where intrigue runs deep. Tasked with a covert mission, Henry must navigate the complex dynamics of the region, discovering hidden truths and navigating a maze of conflicting interests.
The press releases notes that all of this stuff will launch along with free updates throughout the year, as developer Warhorse Studios addresses player feedback and improves the overall experience. Not bad.

About Robert Ramsey
Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he's played 'em all. A little too much, some might say.

Hooray! Cut content to sell to ’loyal fans’ later!

I can't be the only one that sees a DLC roadmap and immediately thinks "I'll wait"... which often translates to "I'll forget about it and never come back"

@themightyant Absolutely not the only one! I often wait for the first sale/patch on games anyway these days, but reading about all the free updates coming (with some of the 'extras' sounding more like 'should be there at release' features), why on earth would I play it on release now ahead of something out of my backlog?!
Look forward to reviews though.

@themightyant Exactly this, i miss the days of a full game available day one with no extra crap down the line.

Saves me a decision for February. I'll wait to pick the game up on sale once it's completed.

@HappyGamerGirl @Jrs1 It's a shame because I often want to play the game but I want to play the WHOLE game at once, not come back for DLC.
It was similar for Alan Wake 2. They announced several story DLC at launch and had no physical edition, that made it a no buy for me at launch. It's sad when you then see them saying they hadn't made a profit yet despite all the critical acclaim. I have now bought the complete edition on disc though.

Releasing a DLC roadmap for a game that isn't even out yet is in poor taste. It makes me wait for the "Gold Edition" or "Complete Edition" before considering the purchase.

@kevinm360 poor taste AND poor business sense in one go. Impressive! 🙂
Joking aside, it also sucks for those many non-enthusiasts who won't be aware of this as we are and will just go and buy it regardless at full price and will likely have dropped it or traded it in by the time these updates and add-ons release for those of us who are now going to wait.

So they left some content out so it could be sold as dlc. Gotcha.
Luckily I will be able to wait, with avowed and MH I’m in no rush for anymore day 1

Got to laugh at the comments moaning like they only just discovered DLC. The game is a 100 hour epic nothing has been cut.

If it's anything like the DLC for the first game, it'll be well worth it. And yeah, if you want to play the game once, probably best to wait for the "Royal Edition." But I know that I'll be going through this one multiple times so I'm still there day one with the deluxe edition pre-ordered. It's my turn to be part of the problem!

loads of games have dlc but apparently this one is cutting content ?
people moan if they tell you what dlc will be in the expansion pass but then moan if they dont tell you

@themightyant To me it translates as 'wait for the inevitable complete edition with all the DLC, free updates and fixes'.

Loved the first game. Played it a year+ after the launch fully patched, with DLCs. Same approach to this one.

Not a day one purchase for me but I imagine I will get it in a future sale at some point.
It has a lot of buzz and warhorse have done a good job in that regard but it's just not something I see as a must have right now.

Ah another monastery. Skippeldidooied out of the monastery in the first game. MFs who never F a M grinded my gears in the first one.

All the DLC tales sound really interesting. I have enough to play right now, but I'm looking forward to playing this later in the year.

They have earned my purchases, regardless.
I didn't play the DLC's in my first playthrough anyway, but recently played them as a way to get ready for KCD2, and boy, am I ready. Band of ***** felt like a perfect lead in, in terms of theme and tone, and The Amorous Adventures of Bold Sir Hans Capon added a little more flavour for setting out on our journey with Hans in part 2. And so, after immersing myself in the main quests and side quests in full (which will be hundreds of hours of good content) I'll happily revisit the game for the KCD2 DLC in the future, too.
I'll get over them not quite having got the hairstyles to function in cutscenes yet. It's a very secondary feature in a first person game where you wear helmets frequently. But it's nice that it's still coming soon.

I was not sure if I should pick up the game edition with dlc, but this piece of news settles it for me. I am going for gold!

So another game to pick up in a year or two then or maybe not at all if I forget about game.

Oh how times have changed, cdpr did exactly the same thing with the witcher 3 , free content followed by paid meatier dlc , i remember people applauding that , this company does exactly the same thing and it's 'how dare they , the devils' the story content may not even be finished yet.

@themightyant I didn't used to be a wait-and-see-er but my backlog gets beefier and beefier I end up waiting for complete editions and add them to my Amazon wishlist which my mum makes use of for buying crimbo presents.

This game (and the first game) deserve some proper VR versions. Just imagine how immersive it could be in a headset.
I admit it probably wouldn't sell insane numbers, but its all about the art, damnit!

@themightyant Not at all. I was already nervous about its launch performance on console this just solidifies waiting for the Ultimate GOTY now with Dante from Devil May Cry Series edition.
